In terms of size, the 2.5 refers to the size of the pollutant being blocked. Think of the average hair being .1 millimeter, generally the smallest thing visible with the naked eye, the same width as a human hair. In order to see particles, including organic material as small as .001 micrometers, you would need a powerful microscope. Micrometers have the symbol: µm and are equivalent to 0.001 millimeters. Wow that's small. This is the added protection of every carbon filter we ship in our masks. So in order for us to see something as incredibly small as a micrometer, we need to use powerful microscopes. Here’s a diagram from the Environmental Protection Agency to help you visualize the scale of these tiny particles. Each mask we produce comes with a premium 5-layer activated carbon filter insert, within an easy access pocket.
- 2.5PM 5-layer filtration
- Activated carbon filter layer
- Filter can not be cleaned and should be replaced every 7-10 days
- Filters size (approximate): 12 x 8 cm/ 4.9 x 3.1 inches.
